Homecare By Design is locally owned and operated by Traci Goudy, RN, a long-time resident of Lafayette. Traci has 20-years experience in senior care with 12 of those years in management and administration as well as sales and marketing, in some of the area’s best senior communities. Traci has over 7 years experience serving in at-home care services, starting as a nursing assistant prior to becoming a registered nurse, then gaining a full spectrum of knowledge in a variety of senior service products such as assisted living, Medicare in-home care, and continuing care retirement living before taking her place in business ownership. This well-rounded experience has assisted Homecare By Design to establish its firm footing in the market to quickly become the industry leader.

Caregivers Conferency 2009

Homecare By Design particiapated in the annual Caregivers Conference on August 5, 2009. The event was at the Dayton United Methodist Church. The event is held every year to focus on issues related to caregiving and more specifically for those whose loved ones have dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

The event was well attended and had plenty of educational resources, area home and health care providers, as well as excellent presentations including, "The Changing Face of Intimacy", "A Day in the Life...for Caregivers" and "Communication and Bathing for Professionals".

The key note speaker this year was Daniel Kuhn, MSW. Daniel is the Director of Professional Training Institute for the Greater Illinois chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Daniel routinely gives presentations on caregiving and dementia care issues at local and national conferences. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 books and other related materials. His most recent book, co-authored with Jane Verity is, "The Art of Dementia Care". This is sure to be an excellent read for anyone who is interested in learning more about this ever growing and challenging topic.

Homecare By Design will happily read this and other great books to continue our own education in the ever changing world of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Knowledge is power and we want to continually be ready to assist our clients and their families in the daily battle against this often devestating disease. We are in this together! Traci

Purdue University Fire Department Honors Two Citizens for Saving a Life
Monday, April 20, 2009

On June 12, 2008, a 67-year old man playing in the Senior Games at Purdue's Recreational Sports Center, collapsed due to sudden cardiac arrest.

Two volunteers with Area IV Agency, the sponsor of the Senior Games, were able to help. They quickly alerted 911 and utilized their nursing backgrounds to begin CPR, saving the man's life.
Catherine Gaylor and Traci Goudy were honored July 7, 2008 at the Purdue University Fire Station with a Life Safety Award.
